Legal Disclaimer
& Terms of Use
The short version: your audio is yours, your machine is yours, your mistakes are yours, and whatever you make or install has nothing to do with us. The long version is below.
Last updated: 5 September 2026
In plain language
- By using this site you agree to all of this. If you do not agree, do not use it.
- We claim no rights to your audio, and we take no responsibility for it — including files you overwrite, delete or lose.
- Your files are processed on your own device. They are never uploaded to us, so we never hold, see or store them.
- Anything you create using these tools is entirely your own, separate from this site. We are not a party to it, not a collaborator on it, and not liable for it.
- You may cite songtools.music as a tool you used. That is the only permission granted — it is not an endorsement, partnership or credit line involving the site owner.
- Do not contact or involve the site owner about any work made with these tools. There is nothing for us to answer for, either way.
- Downloads are install-at-your-own-risk. Whatever a plugin or file does to your machine — break it or make you money — is yours alone, and there is no support.
- Everything here is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. Keep backups of your originals.
01By using this website, you agree
By accessing, browsing or using songtools.music or any tool on it, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to this disclaimer in full. If you do not agree to any part of it, do not use this site.
This agreement is a condition of use. It applies from the moment you load any page here, whether or not you open a tool, and whether or not you were shown a notice. Loading a file, using the microphone, exporting a render, operating a tool, or downloading, installing or running anything offered here, is a further confirmation of your agreement each time you do it.
On your first visit you are shown a short notice summarizing these terms, which you dismiss by agreeing. That notice reappears roughly once a week so that your agreement stays current and so that you are re-pointed to this page if it has changed. Dismissing the notice is a record of your agreement for your own benefit — it is a convenience, not the source of the agreement, which arises from your use of the site regardless. If your browser blocks cookies and local storage, the notice may appear on every visit; that changes nothing about the terms.
If you are using this site on behalf of a company, label, studio, client or other organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these terms on its behalf, and "you" means both you and that organisation.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the site, and they continue to apply after you stop using it — in particular sections 07, 08 and 09, which survive indefinitely.
02Your audio files
songtools.music provides free browser-based audio tools. All processing — analysis, equalization, compression, limiting and export — runs locally in your own browser, on your own device. No audio file you open is transmitted to, received by, stored on or accessible to the site owner or any server.
Because of this, the site owner:
- Claims no ownership, copyright, licence or any other right in the audio you load, in the audio you export, or in any recording, composition, performance or other material connected to either.
- Has no ability to access, recover, restore, delete, verify or moderate your files, and holds no copy of them.
- Makes no claim about whether you hold the rights to the material you process. Confirming that you have the necessary rights, licences, clearances and permissions for anything you load into these tools is entirely your responsibility.
03Data and privacy
Your audio, microphone input, and the settings you choose stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and the site owner does not collect, receive, retain, sell or share your audio or the contents of your work.
The site owner is therefore not a processor, custodian or controller of your audio material, and cannot respond to requests to produce, export, delete or authenticate files that were opened in these tools — no such files exist on our side.
04No warranty — back up your originals
Back up your original files before using any tool on this site. Work on a copy. Treat every exported file as a new file, never as a replacement for your master.
The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including, without limitation, any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, or non-infringement.
The site owner is not responsible for any loss of or damage to your files or data, however it happens. This expressly includes, but is not limited to:
- Overwriting, replacing, misplacing or losing an original file and being left with only a processed or edited version.
- Accidentally deleting a source file, a session, a master or a backup.
- An export that is unwanted, unusable, clipped, distorted, silent, truncated, mislabelled, incorrectly processed or otherwise not what you expected.
- Browser crashes, tab closures, refreshes, memory limits, device failure, storage failure, interrupted downloads or interrupted renders.
- Any decision, edit, mix, master or release you make on the basis of what a tool on this site displayed, measured, reported or produced.
Measurements, meters, readouts and analysis shown by these tools are provided for convenience and may be inaccurate, approximate or wrong. They are not a substitute for your own judgement, your own monitoring, or professional review.
05Downloads, plugins and installed software
Anything you download from this site, you install and run entirely at your own risk, on your own machine, on your own judgement. The site owner accepts no responsibility for what it does once it leaves this site — in either direction.
This section covers everything offered for download here: VST and other audio plugins, instruments, effects, presets, patches, samples, installers, archives and any file of any kind.
Without limitation, and regardless of fault:
- If it damages, destabilises, corrupts or destroys anything — your operating system, your DAW, your projects, sessions, renders, plugins, drivers, interface, hardware, storage or backups — that is your risk and your loss, not the site owner's.
- If it crashes, freezes, glitches, fails to load, fails to scan, fails to authorise, conflicts with your other software, or ruins a take, a session, a mix, a deadline or a live performance — the same applies.
- If it earns you money, wins you work, or ends up on something successful — that is equally nothing to do with the site owner, who has no claim on it, no share of it, and wants neither. Section 07 applies in full.
- Compatibility is not promised and not implied. Nothing here has been tested against your operating system or its version, your DAW or host, your plugin format, your sample rate or buffer, your drivers, your hardware or your other installed software. That combination is yours alone, and it cannot be known from here.
- Nothing is guaranteed to be free of defects, bugs, conflicts or errors. Inspect, scan and test anything you download before you rely on it. Do not install it on a machine, or into a project, that you cannot afford to have go wrong.
By downloading, installing, running or keeping anything from this site, you accept sole and complete responsibility for every consequence of having done so — immediate or delayed, technical or financial, on your machine or on anything connected to it. That responsibility is permanent and without recourse to the site owner.
If you are not willing to carry that yourself, the answer is simple: do not download anything here.
06No support — and any help you get is not a solution
There is no support of any kind. No installation help, no troubleshooting, no compatibility checks, no bug fixes, no updates, no replacements, no refunds. None of it is offered, promised or owed, and none of it should be expected.
Do not contact the site owner for technical instructions on installing, configuring, authorising or running anything from this site — and do not treat any reply you happen to receive as the answer to your problem.
The site owner does not know your system and cannot know it: your OS build, your DAW and its version, your host, your drivers, your audio interface, your permissions, your security software, your plugin folders, and whatever else is on your machine. Any response given is made without that information. It is a guess about a situation the site owner cannot see.
If the site owner does reply, help, or suggest something, that is a courtesy and nothing more. It is not professional advice, not a diagnosis, not an instruction, not a recommendation and not a warranty. It creates no duty of care, no support relationship, no obligation to answer again or to keep answering, and no liability for what happens next.
Acting on anything you are told is your decision alone, and every result of acting on it stays with you — including anything that breaks precisely because you followed it. Being helped does not transfer the risk. What you install, and what happens after you install it, is yours to own either way.
07Derivative media is entirely separate
Any media that derives from this site — an exported WAV, a processed stem, a mix, a master, a screenshot, a spectrogram image, a video, a release, or anything built on top of any of these — is entirely separate from songtools.music and from the site owner.
The site owner:
- Is not an author, co-author, contributor, collaborator, producer, engineer, publisher, distributor or rights holder of that media.
- Does not endorse, approve, review, verify, sponsor or vouch for it, and its existence implies no association of any kind.
- Accepts no liability, credit, blame, obligation or claim arising from it — positive or negative — including any dispute over copyright, ownership, royalties, authorship, licensing, defamation, quality, commercial performance or use.
If you are using, licensing, distributing, disputing or investigating media that came out of these tools: do not contact, name, notify, credit as a party, join, subpoena or otherwise involve the site owner. The site owner has no information about it, no involvement in it, and no stake in it.
Providing a free tool is not participation in what is made with it, in the same way that a hammer's manufacturer is not a party to the house.
08Citation — the only permission granted
You are welcome to cite songtools.music as a tool you used. That permission is limited to a plain factual reference, for example:
No attribution is required. You may release, sell and license your work with no credit to this site at all.
A citation does not grant you the right to:
- State or imply that the site owner endorses, is affiliated with, participated in, approved or is otherwise connected to your work.
- Credit the site owner as a person involved in the work, in any role.
- Use the site owner's name, identity or contact details in credits, metadata, liner notes, filings, legal documents, marketing or press.
- Register, claim, resell or sublicense the songtools.music name, or present yourself as speaking for it.
Beyond a bare citation, treat the site owner as an uninvolved third party — because that is what they are.
09Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site owner shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of files, loss of work, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, business interruption, or damage to or failure of any device, system, software or hardware — arising out of or in any way connected to your use of, or inability to use, this site, its tools, or anything downloaded or installed from it, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other theory, and whether or not the site owner has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, it is limited to the amount you paid to use this site — which is nothing.
You agree to use these tools at your own risk, and to be solely responsible for your own files, your own backups, your own rights clearances and your own output.
10Availability and changes
The tools and downloads are offered free of charge with no guarantee of uptime, continuity, compatibility or preservation. Any tool or feature may change, break or be removed at any time, without notice, and the site may go offline permanently. Nothing here creates a contract, a service commitment or an ongoing obligation of any kind.
This disclaimer may be updated at any time. The version published at songtools.music/legal.html is the version that applies. Continuing to use the site means you accept it.
If any part of this disclaimer is found unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply in full.
11A note on this page
This page is a plain statement of the site owner's position. It is not legal advice, and it does not change whatever rights and obligations you already have in your own material or under the law where you live. If something you are doing genuinely needs legal input, speak to a lawyer — not to this site.
